How did we end up as Himalayan cat breeders?  Purely from a love of the breed! I have always wanted a Himalayan. When I was devastated over the loss of a beautiful Siamese kitten – my husband asked if he could buy me the Himalayan I had always wanted. I agreed and we were off on a search for our perfect kitten.

We found him in Kentucky from Pam Moore’s MH Cats. A big eyed, fluffy furball that my youngest daughter named Jabba because, as a kitten, when you held his ears flat, she said he looked just like Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars. I was furious – I had planned to name him something very dignified – but I lost. He became and still is – Jabba, my first love. But he does want me to tell you that he is very dignified, even if his name isn’t.

We have been involved with breeding and training horses for twenty years (www.SouthernComfortFarms.com) so animal genetics and rearing were no mystery to us. When my husband saw these cats and got to know how great they are, he suggested we look into breeding. It was a natural move for us with our background in horses and came at a perfect time in our lives – empty nesters with extra room and time – and lots of love to go round!

So – next into the cattery came Bennie Blue (Rani BenBen Chuli) – a sweet, loving blue point girl who has given us one kitten – the infamous Yoda.

A couple of weeks later, the love of my life came home with us – the beautiful chocolate point Rani Kashmir, with the beautiful white coat that feels like cashmere!

Now, we are expanding our program to bring in blue and lilac points with the addition of McKatfancy's Lone Ranger.

Hopefully, you will join us and share in our delight in this breed. Be sure to check out our Photo Album to see how much fun life can be with our little jewels!
